The current pandemic has raised lots of questions for legacy fundraisers.
We can all see the significant increase in demand for Wills, but, Will writing is not the same as leaving a gift in a Will. And quite reasonably some charities are nervous about alienating the public and some are asking questions about the ethics of legacy fundraising in the current pandemic.
To help gauge this and to help isolate any personal bias from what the public think, we asked we asked 1,000 people aged 30+ over the week ending 20th April for their views on legacy fundraising.
We weren’t trying to explore deep motivations for leaving a legacy. We just wanted to establish how appropriate the public feel legacy giving is and any particular changes in emphasis on the charities that people might leave a legacy to.
